SAMPLE ITINERARY

Day 1: Nairobi

Arrive in Kenya.  Go to the hotel and sleep!

Days 2 - 5: Nakuru Hope Orphanage

We will spend the next three days at Nakuru Hope Orphanage in Nakuru, Kenya, where we will help enrich the lives of children whose parents are unable to care for them.  We will be taken on home visits to see and learn about where the children come from and the challenges that the children face every day.  We will be welcome in the classrooms- teaching a new song, english, or arts and crafts.  Also, we will assist with daily chores, such as washing dishes, repairing broken furniture, or helping with food preparation.  After school, we will play sports with the children, help with their homework, and tell them a bedtime story.

Days 6 - 9: Mara-Serengeti

After saying goodbye to the children, we will pack our belongings back into the trucks and head off on safari!  We will spend four days exploring the Mara-Serengeti Ecosystem.  The Mara, as the locals call it, is the number one game reserve in all of Africa and the 7th Natural Wonder of Africa.  The Mara is an incredible game reserve that offers a plethora of wildlife, including prides of lions, herds of elephants, rhino, zebra, gazelle, ostrich, hyena, leopard, cheetah, buffalo, wildebeest, giraffe, and much more!  There is a very good reason why the BBC filmed the TV series “Big Cat Diaries” from this incredible reserve.  We can take our time, enjoy watching the animals in their natural habitat, take hundreds of photos, and continuously pinch ourselves in the realization that we are on safari in Africa!

Day 10: Nairobi

We will leave the game reserve after breakfast and head back towards the airport.  Along the way, we will stop by the Giraffe Sanctuary, a breeding program for the critically endangered Rothschild Giraffes.  Here we learn about giraffes and their environment while hand-feeding them from a tree top platform.  A giraffe kiss is optional…

Once we’ve had enough giraffe love, we will head to the Utamaduni Crafts Emporium, where we will browse local artwork and have a chance to pick up souvenirs.  Next, we will have our farewell dinner and head to the airport.
